Talk Summary

In a competitive environment where the "client is always right", how do we as consultants learn from our experiences and hone our client-relationship skills? In this talk we will review elements of the client-consultant interaction and give real-world examples of issues that are likely to arise and how we've addressed the them.

Speaker Bios

  • Mona Patel
    Human Factors International

Mona is the New Jersey/New York based Executive Director at Human Factors International. She has nine years of experience in the evaluation and design of websites and complex web applications, software products as well as consumer products, voice interfaces and medical devices. Mona's responsibilities include all facets of understanding a client's needs, diagnosing a solution, and overseeing the quality of all deliverables for that client. She is a frequent presenter at local and national usability conferences and one of HFI's highest rated instructors.
  • April McGee
    Human Factors International

April has been a Project Director and Course Instructor with Human Factors International in the New York/New Jersey regional office for four and a half years. Beyond that, April spent over 20 years plying her trade as a usability engineer while "roaming the halls" of research facilities focused on industries such as telecomm, medical devices and software, household appliances and automotive interfaces. A jill-of-all-usability-trades, April is responsible for all aspects of the User-Centered Design process from soup-to-nuts; but, more than anything, her main goal is always to build and grow client relationships.
